When the cloud goes silent
Bose has ended cloud support for SoundTouch products. Functions many owners used every day are gone.
- Preset buttons can no longer be used directly for the familiar cloud-based functions.
- Music services are no longer available directly through SoundTouch; in many cases only Bluetooth or AirPlay remain.
- Control from the phone and remote is limited.
- SoundTouch 10 stereo pairs are no longer available.
- Parts of smart setup and management are missing.
For many users, a once-smart speaker with great sound has effectively turned overnight into little more than a simple Bluetooth or AirPlay speaker. That is a loss in value many owners should not have to accept.
From here, Encore ST takes the lead
Encore ST consists of an app for iOS and Android plus a Home or Cloud Server, so great speakers can be fully used and controlled again. The application brings back central features that made SoundTouch systems special.
- App control for speakers, playback, volume and different music sources
- Presets for internet radio and supported music services
- Music from your own network via DLNA/UPnP
- Multiroom groups and SoundTouch 10 stereo pairs
Two ways back to the music
Encore ST Home runs locally in your own network and will remain free permanently.
Encore ST Cloud is intended for simple use without running your own server. During development, the cloud version is free as well; later, a small monthly or yearly fee may be needed depending on operating cost.
For supporters who help with test devices, feedback or financial support, the cloud version is intended to remain free permanently.

Encore ST is about to enter beta. The beta phase starts within the next few days. If you own a SoundTouch system, you can already register for the beta, share feedback or provide test hardware on loan after prior agreement.
